The origins of Palm leaf astrology or Naadi astrology as most popularly known, is traced back to Vaitheeswaran Koil, a Hindu temple in Tamil Nadu (India), dedicated to god Shiva. The Vitheeswaran Koil Naadi Centre is not just one of the oldest but is also the most acclaimed astrology centre the world has ever witnessed. The Naadi centre at Vaitheeswarankoil was inaugurated and brought into light by A Siva Guru Swamy as the chief naadi astrologer.
Born into a traditional Valluvar family of priests practising astrology who used to engage in the Pooja or worship of Lord Shiva, A Siva Guru Swamy inherited the approach to expeditiously analyse the fortunes of the people.

So, the father S. V. Arumugam, although has based his predictions originally on Siva Nadi, later began pursuing predictions from Siva Sukshma Naadi.
The ancestors of A Siva Guru Swamy belonged to Meikandanadhar gothra or lineage hailing from Chithambaram near Vaitheeswarankoil of Tamilnadu in India.
